Welcome to JoeBuff.Com, the Cyberspace Home of
national bestselling author Joe Buff.

Dear Site Visitors: The following message comes from a couple I'm friends with who have been very personally involved in overseas combat in the Global War on Terror. Bill Pozzi is a retired Navy SEAL who saw action in Iraq, Barbara is his wife, their daughter Jenny is a Second Lieutenant in an MP Battalion who recently returned (temporarily) from a year in Iraq, and their son-in-law (Jenny's husband), Will, is over in Iraq right now. Please consider helping out in the American Heroes Tribute that Barbara so eloquently describes. To make a donation, click on the link at the very bottom of Barbara's message, and then give what you can.

Thanks much and warmest regards, ...Joe.

From Barbara Breazeale, 16 February 2006:

Dear Friends,

Here I go again! Many of you know that I belong to American Heroes Tribute. Bill and I became members of the board over a year ago when it started. A dear friend of ours helped to start this and when we heard more, we were hooked.

American Heroes Tribute is a strictly nonpolitical, nonprofit, federally-recognized 501(c)(3) corporation founded by a group of average Americans who are inspired by this very special project. Our goal is to celebrate the lives of our fallen servicemen and women in Iraq and Afghanistan by creating and displaying large, vertical, 3 x 9 ft. banners of them that hang from light poles and are rotated to different events. At it's height there will be well over 2,500 banners on view. Along the way we will have special events in major cities where we will embrace the families of the fallen and honor the men and women who paid the greatest price for our freedom. This will provide opportunities for Americans, of all political persuasions, to come together in a spirit of true unity.

Our first event was sponsored by the City of San Clemente. We have since been part of events for City of Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Orange, plus many churches and schools. Our next event is for the City of San Juan Capistrano and the Swallow's Parade.

To this end we have been eagerly invited by Allen & Claudia Niccola, to stage a fund raising event at their restaurant, The Tea House on Los Rios in San Juan Capistrano on Monday, March 27, 2006, as part of the nationally recognized Swallow's Day weekend. This event will be an afternoon tea from 11:30 to 2:30. A fabulous meal will be served, we will have music and guest speakers. We will have approximately 60 of our banners displayed in the city for several weeks before and after the fundraiser and Swallow's Day events. A local artist, Randi Peshkin, has generously donated a stained glass/leaded glass window which will be raffled off at the luncheon.

The tickets to the luncheon will cost $50.00 each. I hope that you will consider attending our tea/luncheon and supporting us. There are actually several areas that I would like to suggest that you can help in.

  • 1. We are looking for corporate sponsors to underwrite our fundraiser. Corporate Sponsorship would be $5,000 to $10,000. For that amount, the sponsor will have their name put on a banner, they will have that banner (s)displayed at their place of business for several weeks and will have their name and the name of their organization placed on our advertising.

  • 2. Banner sponsor - $1,000. For this amount your family, your name or your company's name will be placed permanently on a banner. Perhaps you know someone who has died in the war and would like to honor that person. Perhaps a group of friends or a family would want to sponsor a banner in memory of a brave serviceman or woman.

  • 3. Buy a ticket or tickets to our fundraiser. They are $50.00 a piece. If you cannot attend, you may want to buy a ticket for a family member of a fallen soldier.

  • 4. Donation - We are a non profit and welcome donations to expand our vision.

  • 5. We are looking for groups that we can talk to about American Heroes. If you belong to a Rotary, American Legion, Church group, etc that is interested in hearing about American Heroes and our upcoming fundraiser, please call us and give us the opportunity of meeting with them and explaining our vision.

  • 6. Perhaps you have been looking for a great organization to join. We are always looking for people who want to help and who are passionate about honoring and helping these men and women and their families. It costs nothing to join.
  • We hope you will take a few minutes and visit our website: www.AmericanHeroesTribute.org I guarantee you that you will be moved by this. Each banner has a color photo of the service person who lost their life. The bottom of the banner has a brief bio on that person: Their name, age, hometown, branch of service, the day they died and usually a quote from them or their family. The back of the banner has an American flag on it and the name of the person or group who sponsored the banner. I still cry when I read them. I am convinced that many were angels walking among us. Abraham Simpson was a 19 year old, former Eagle Scout who wrote that if he had to die, it was okay because he knew where he was going. He said that he would be willing to take a bullet for someone else who is not ready to go or who may need more time. I was speechless the first time I read it and I am still stunned by it.

I have been to many of our events and am always touched by the emotion. Groups of people gather at the base of the banner. Some cry, some smile and share stories, many are silent, but all are moved by what they see. The families thank us for honoring their loved ones and most of all they are happy that they are remembered.

You all know about Jenny, Bill and Will serving in Iraq. It is easy to see why I became involved in this group. I am often one of the people staring up at the banners and I always pray that my daughter or son in law will not ever have a banner. I cannot even imagine that pain.

I hope that you will pass my email along to your friends and family.

Please write or call me if you have questions.
